Wet Day in Taupo

Well I suppose it had to happen two very wet days in a row, well it’s great because we always need a little bit of rain, or we would be a desert, like most of Australia, and they have the monopoly on dry land! So when the rain does arrive in Taupo, what can you do, well you are in luck because there are heaps of activities suitable for wet of dry, so kicking this list off is

1) http://www.taupopuzzleworld.com/Puzzle_World/Welcome.html This is one very cool little spot located just a few minutes north of Taupo, the have a number of indoor games, (even a indoor golf driving range)

2) AC Baths hey it’s raining so you might as well have a swim http://taupovenues.co.nz/ac-baths/home/

3) De Bretts (read above) http://www.taupohotsprings.com/

4) Have a massage http://www.invoguetaupo.co.nz/ http://www.nadurtha.co.nz/

5) Play squash http://www.tauposquash.co.nz/

6) Climb a wall or two http://taupovenues.co.nz/tec/facilities/rock-wall/

So that is a start, and i forgot to mention there is some fantastic shopping in Taupo, with some very nice boutique shops, also there are a lot of toy shops for the boys to entertain themselves.

Lake Taupo Maori Carving

Lake Taupo is full of surprises with the likes of the Maori Rock Carvings, which are only accessible to by boat.  The carvings represent the main voyage of Maori to New Zealand from the Polynesian islands, with the main carving showing his parentage in his moko or tattoos, there are a total of 17 carvings on the rock, all of which have their background in Maori mythology and culture.

We took the Earnest Kemp out for our cruise and Skipper Ian kept us well entertained and informed on our voyage. We highly recommend this trip, as it isn’t expensive, and is great value for the family to get out on this fantastic lake.
