Ready to go!

Ready to go!

So it is that time of year when most business’s are breaking for the Christmas and new year holidays, we often have companies come to Taupo for a few days to treat their hard-working staff, to some rest and relaxation.

As a little example for your staff breakup next year, here are a few suggestions.

The staff of www.beechtreemotel.co.nz went out on the Bravado http://www.taupolakeadventures.com/

Not only did they catch some good fish, the tour around the lake to the Rock carvings and Acacia Bay made the trip a memorable one

Wow today I went to the new art space Art.co it is a little bit out of the way on Runanga Street Taupo, but it is worth the walk from the town center, (about 3 minutes) Art.co is a co-op shop, with up to 30 artists (mostly local) offering their art for sale. Diversity is the name of the game here, with few if any limitations on genre or substance. You will find some fantastic water colours depicting the lake and scenery, through to  the more slightly disturbing depictions of youth and their battle with life, through to some very clever crafts made form recycled materials. Keri runs the shop, and is very welcoming and more than happy to share with you the history and story of many of the artists that sell through there.

Space: A large floor area allows lots of space and there is a loft area which an artist can access to get away and focus on their latest creation, through to classes and schools been held on site.

So Taupo has lots to offer, and I advise you check out Art.co, you may just find that treasure that will remind you of your visit to Lake Taupo!

Lake Taupo Rugby World Cup Hosting

Wow what a great week it has been for Lake Taupo and Rotorua, with the announcement of what teams the two tourist towns will host during the Rugby World Cup

Taupo will host Wales for five nights, Ireland for four, and South Africa for nine.

Rotorua will host Namibia for seven nights, Fiji for two, Samoa for six, Ireland for four, and a European team for two.

With both Taupo and Rotorua been conveniently positioned in the centre of the North Island, with large populations in surrounding areas. This is a great move by the Rugby World Cup to make sure that the game gets great spread and visibility, and make sure it isn’t just confined to the large cities and Metropolitan areas.

With some top class accommodation in both towns, it will mean that our visiting players and guests will leave suitably impressed and hopefully return in the future.

ActionWorld in Lake Taupo

So since the weather was so perfect today my Daughter and I headed out to Lake Taupo’s latest sensation www.Actionworldtaupo.co.nz

This week has been a week of firsts with the launch of the Swing at Taupo Bungy, you can read this here http://travelmonkee.co.nz/?p=362

Action World is located beside Taupo Airport, and is just a few minutes drive from the town.

What has it got, well it is a trapeze course, with High wires, Flying Trapeze, Battle zones, Trampoline jump, slides and a very cool climbing wall, added to this you don’t need any safety ropes or harnesses, as every where you climb/fly there are giant air bags underneath you to catch you when you fall!

Prices are very reasonable with Adults at $25 and children $18.

So make sure next time you visit Taupo to put this place on your “to do” list.
